Swedish Massage

Swedish Massage is a very relaxing and therapeutic style of bodywork. It combines oils or lotion with an array of strokes such as rolling, kneading, and percussion to help the body improve its circulation. The benefits of this type of bodywork are wide-ranging and include relief from aches and pains, decreased stress levels in the body, enhanced mental clarity, improved appearance, and greater flexibility. All major body systems can benefit. Common results include muscle tone improvement, release of joint tension, deeper respiration and increased circulation and lymph flow.

Myofascial Release

Myofascial release is a form of soft tissue therapy intended to eliminate pain, increase range of motion, and rebalance the entire body. It does this by using massage techniques to stretch the fascia and release the bonds that exist between the fascia, muscles and bones. Fascia is the connective tissue that connects and covers all muscles, organs, and skeletal structures of the body. Direct myofascial release is sometimes known as deep tissue work. Indirect release applies light pressure and gently stretches the fascia; this allows for increased blood circulation and relief from pain. Common benefits include increased joint function, greater mobility and flexibility and improved balance.

Deep Tissue Massage

Deep Tissue Massage is a form of bodywork that aims to relieve tension in the deeper layers of tissue in the body. Deep Tissue Massage is a highly effective method for releasing chronic stress areas due to misalignment, repetitive motions, and past lingering injuries. Due to the nature of the deep tissue work, open communication during the session is crucial to make sure you don't get uncomfortable. Keep in mind that soreness sometimes occurs after the treatment. This is short-term discomfort resulting in long-term gain. Drink plenty of water to aid with the flushing and removal of toxins that may be released during the session.

Zero Balancing

Zero Balancing is a simple yet powerful technique for aligning the body's energy system with the physical structure of the body. The work occurs at a deep level where nervous energy and bone structure interface promoting subtle yet profound changes within the system. Each session generally takes about 45 minutes, and is performed with you fully clothed. Once your structure and energy system are balanced, many dysfunctional habits tend to release automatically. In addition, you are able to function with greater ease and clarity in the world, leading to a deeper overall sense of well-being and health. Many of these techniques can be blended with other approaches.

CranioSacral (CST)

CranioSacral Therapy is a gentle yet powerful technique that is effective in releasing neck pain, back pain, and mental stress (among other things). It does this by optimizing the movement of cerebrospinal fluid through the spine and around the skull. Developed by physician William Sutherland, this therapy provides a very soothing and relaxing healing experience. By optimizing this flow, the body can heal and balance in an organic and synergistic manner.

Structural Integration Therapy

Structural Integration employs soft tissue manipulation with the goal of realigning the body in relationship to the force of gravity. The theory underlying Structural Therapy is that the body's connective tissue is often "bound up" or adhesed, thus restricting opposing muscles from working independently of one another. Thus, we aim to loosen the restricted connective tissue by using a practice very similar to deep tissue massage. Practitioners typically prescribe a specific sequence of ten sessions lasting about 75 minutes each in order to "unlock" the whole body. In some cases, these techniques can be applied in site specific goals for shorter duration. Together with your therapist, a treatment plan specific to your condition will be developed.
